Belonolaimus longicaudatus
One of the most damaging turf nematodes, an ectoparasite that severely prunes roots in sandy soils.
Identification
Microscopic (lab diagnosis via soil assay). Aboveground: irregular yellow, wilting, thinning patches that do not respond to water/fertilizer; very short, stubby, dark root systems.

Irregular wilting/chlorotic patches
Severely shortened, stubby roots
Decline despite good water and fertility
Favorable Conditions
High-sand rootzones and warm temperatures (greens, Florida/coastal sites).
Cultural Management
Promote rooting: raise HOC, careful water/fertility, biostimulants
Confirm with a soil nematode assay before treating
