Inhibits sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) in the ergosterol biosynthesis pathway, impairing cell membrane formation and function. Metconazole has strong binding affinity for the CYP51 enzyme, providing broad-spectrum efficacy at relatively low use rates.
