HPPD Inhibitor

Mesotrione inhibits 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), an enzyme in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway. Inhibition depletes carotenoids required to protect chlorophyll from photooxidation. Affected plants bleach white before necrosis, a characteristic visual symptom. Activity is both pre- and post-emergent.
